Today’s devotional was written by Angela Vandagriff and narrated by Sharee Gaiser.

“I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” (Psalm 34:4, KJV).

Have you ever cried out to God in fear? Most of us have. And have you ever felt disappointed when God did not perform the miracle you hoped for? I know I have.

I first experienced this as a child. I prayed for God to remove me from the situation that was causing my fear. I wanted Him to remove me physically. In my young mind, if I sought the Lord and asked for His help, He would take me away.

As I grew in my faith, however, I learned a powerful truth: God does not always remove us from the situation, but He can remove the fear.

I have committed today’s verse to memory. I find myself actively seeking the Lord through prayer; I trust that He hears me. No matter what His response is, I know He will deliver me from the fear that threatens to overwhelm my heart.

We all face crushing, life-altering circumstances that produce paralyzing fear. In those moments, we may long for God to rescue us immediately and remove the source of our pain. We need to remember His deliverance might look different from what we expect.

The word delivered carries the idea of rescue—being pulled away from danger, recovered from dread, or brought out of distress. Sometimes God delivers us from the situation. Other times, He delivers us in the situation. The circumstances may remain, but fear no longer rules us.

When we seek God in our most frightening moments, He meets us with His presence. He steadies our hearts, strengthens our faith, and replaces fear with His peace. The storm may continue around us, but it no longer has to rage within us or control us.

God's deliverance is not always the removal of trouble. Sometimes it is the gift of His divine peace in the midst of it.

What fear do you need to place in God's hands today? Seek Him, trust that He hears you, and allow His peace to rule your heart.
