Freely Speaking - Devotional by Marge Webb
Welcome to Freely Speaking, an OHSOFREE devotional ministry where we share our hearts and trust God for transformation.
Today’s devotional is written by Marge Webb, and narrated by Angela Gray.
“Worthy are You, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things. And by Your will they existed and were created” (Revelation 4:11 ESV).
As I sat at my desk pondering what my life would be like when I retired, many thoughts came to mind. I knew I would spend more time with my family. Jeff had already retired and spoiled our oldest granddaughter. I was just a little jealous. The two new granddaughters were under three and I wanted to do my share of spoiling.
I also had grand ideas about how to spend my time. My heart yearned to help women who had been abused find peace. I also wanted to play the piano every day and write a book. My plan included making more space for God in my life and I hoped to study the Bible like a theology student.
The verse in Revelation 4:11 above presents the best reason for us to dedicate more time to Jesus. Whether in prayer, worship or reading of scripture, He is worthy of every moment we spend with Him. Taking time to build a relationship with the Savior is vital to our spiritual lives and the best way to handle adversity. God is worthy of our praise. It is amazing that the God of the universe, who created all things, desires a relationship with us.
In the busyness of life, finding time for God is challenging. Like exercise, it is helpful to dedicate a specific time each day to focus on God. And just as I want to spend more time with my granddaughters, God desires more time with us.
While I am not a skilled pianist yet, and the book I plan to write is still floating around in my head, I have enjoyed studying the Bible instead of just reading it. I also enjoy my four granddaughters. The youngest was born five years ago and we have spent many hours watching her grow.
My life is full and I give God all the glory, honor and power.
